Last week I experienced something I had been dreaming of for more than half my life I officially became a published author who’s book is available on Barnes & Noble (and Target and Amazon! But my personal dream was always Barnes & Noble! To me, that would feel like I made it!)
Yes so you can now purchase my journal Finding Joy in the Journey!
Honestly, I’ve been saying on repeat for 12 years, as long as I’ve known about manifestation, “I’m a bestselling published author.” to make it my reality.
Being a published author has been a dream of mine since I was a teenager. I really was writing stories as soon as I could hold a pencil -seriously my first story was a bunch of scribbles & drawings I created as a 3-4 year old & I used to read it back to my family. It was about aliens in a cave LOL.
While I used to always write fiction (fantasy, unsurprisingly of course), as I reached my mid-twenties & started this spiritual business I shifted towards writing non-fiction: empowering self-help, manifestation books & it felt so natural & so right.
I may return to writing and trying to publish fiction one day! But for now I love this path of writing books and journals and card decks that help people and encourage them that anything is possible.
Because I’m proof of that now, too! I just had my biggest dream come true after 15+ of wishing / hoping / putting in the effort / & believing!
So, how did it come about?
Well, funny enough, I remember at the beginning of 2021 going into meditation and asking spirit how can I get something published / what can I get published? Spirit told me work on a journal; a self-help journal because that would be the first to be published.
I was super hyped on that idea, I thought it was brilliant, and … I didn’t listen. 🙈
I got swept away in deciding to work on a new oracle deck instead. (Yes by now this deck is completed, no you haven’t seen it yet, yes It’s in my mind to get thatpublished as well when I can).
I also started and completed writing a full manifestation novel (yep, another I’m hoping to get published soon!)
I didn’t even start a journal, despite what spirit told me.
But, this is proof that what’s meant for you will never pass you. Because despite submitting other projects to countless agents and publishers and getting rejected, this time, someone reached out to me.
A person sent me a DM on instagram saying they were a fan of my account (and I checked they did actually follow me and had previously liked my posts) and that they were a person from a publishing company and they thought my work would be great to turn into something. They gave me their email and told me to email them to discuss details if I was interested. I’m going to admit, I ignored the message for a full day at first because I thought it was a complete scam and fake. But then, something told me to go back to it and check it out further. I looked up the person’s name and I looked up the publishing company they mentioned and both were legit. (I had even already read several books from that publishing company!) It was real. So, I emailed the person and we got the conversation started. They thought my work would be perfectly suited for a self-help journal. (Yeah exactly what spirit had told me to do! LOL)
So I agreed, I signed the contract, and got to work writing what would become Finding Joy in the Journey.
So you see, what’s meant for you will never pass you. Even if you don’t act on what spirit tells you, spirit will make sure you do. I also thought it was amazing in that all along I thought I had to go seeking a publishing deal, but literally the publishing deal came to me, from my instagram account. Again, proof to just put yourself out there! Be you, share your talents, share what lights you up, because you never know who is watching, and you never know what it could lead to. In my case, it led to my dream coming true.
And I know this is just the beginning!
Don’t worry, I have plenty more ideas and plans for books and decks I want to get published so you’ll see more of my work in Barnes & Noble!
As for Finding Joy in the Journey, I filled it with everything I wish I had in a journal. It takes you through all 52 weeks of the year (and the dates are blank so you can start at any point, you don’t have to start in January!) I also made sure it had space every single day for all the practices I personally like to do ever single day - like show gratitude, state an “I am” affirmation, state what you’re manifesting in present tense. I included a checkbox to remind you to spend time visualizing your goals, releasing what no longer serves you, and making time for self-care. And my favorite, I even created a space to track your moods and the moon phase, so you can better see how the moon cycles affects you! Each week there’s also a thoughtful prompt & space to acknowledge something good that happened to you.
My journal is filled with lots of encouragement thoughtful prompts, and space for you to acknowledge something good that happened to you each week.
Finding Joy in the Journey also has a section for initial reflections on each area in your life before you start to help you gain clarity on your goals… and a final reflection after the whole year to see how much you’ve grown.
I’m so proud of creating this journal, I truly love it and it really is a dream come true.
