For a few weeks every spring, WaterDrinker farms in Manorville, Long Island transforms into a little bit of Holland with their magical tulip festival.
It’s such a beautiful spot as there’s rows and rows and thousands of tulips. Looking at it from a far just looks like a sea of color.
However definitely keep this in mind when you’re taking pictures, you want to get just the right angle to make it look like that colorful sea, otherwise you can get a lot of dirt, as between each row of tulips is a dirt-path walkway (great for looking at the tulips, not so great for pictures). So if you’re main objective is some great pictures, have your photographer stand a few rows back, go low, and angle the camera upwards to get more tulips and less dirt.
This year, the tulips were really red!
I went last year, in 2021, and the tulips were more of a soft pink, orange, and yellow - which I loved.
^ a picture from last year's field.
This year, they were so vibrant with lots and lots of red and a heavy red and yellow mix. So each year they're different so you never know what they may look like next year!
There’s a gigantic windmill and over by that hosts some more solely yellow tulips.
They also have a few little photo landmarks scattered throughout the fields, such as some dutch looking houses, a big clog, and my personal favorite - several bikes! The bikes are non rideable, but if you pose it right you can make it look like you’re riding it.
You can’t pick any of the tulips, but there are a few tulips you can buy (including purple ones that me and my friend Tami who was in town picked up for my mom! This tulips have since lasted two weeks and still look great!)
There’s also some animals and kid activities like a playground and other play-things, but I’m can’t be too specific as being childless, we stayed away from those areas. There’s also a brewery next door, but being a non-drinker I did not check that out either LOL.
Overall, it’s a beautiful spot to take photos! Though I will say the particular day we went was soooo incredibly windy! It was so hard to get pictures due to the wind - it wasn’t windy where I live, about a half hour away, but the farms itself was a giant wind tunnel - so be prepared for it to possibly be a bit chillier and much windier.
The tulip field is held every year but the tulips themselves are always up to Mother Nature, as they say. The tulips peak bloom seems to be around the end of April and the first week of May. Last year I took pictures on May 6th and this year I went on April 29th and the blooms were really great! However, as of today 5/8 Waterdrinker posted that the tulip festival is officially over - after a stormy weekend the tulips aren't there best so anything could happen!
It's over this year, but bookmark this blog post so you remember next year! Definitely check the farm’s website to keep tabs on how the bloom is doing come next April!

Definitely recommend as a great spot to take pictures! I hear it gets reallycrowded on a weekend, so try for a weekday if you can manage! I went on a Friday around 3pm and it was really empty (though it was crazy windy so that could’ve been why LOL) but it seemed like a lot more people showed up as we were leaving around 4-430ish.
The farm is open all seven days, 10-6 on Monday to Thursday, 9-Sunset on Friday and Saturday, and 9-6 on Sunday. It’s $15 on a weekday and $20 on a weekend, you don’t to to register in advance, you can pay at the door! (*booth lol)
Along with their tulip festival, in the summers they have a sunflower maze, in the fall they have a pumpkin festival, and in the winter they have an ice rink! So always a great place to keep an eye on.
