Manifestation books and teachers teach us that everything is our mindset, our vibration, our energy. But sometimes we feel like we’re doing everything right : we’re staying positive, we’re believing in ourselves, we’re stating affirmations, we’re visualizing, we’re asking spirit - and yet nothing is changing or happening. So then, it discourages us because we wonder: What am I doing wrong?
Or, we alternatively wonder: Is this just the Universe blocking me? Is this fate putting me on a different path? Is it a matter of divine timing & order?
I think we’ve all been there. I sure have. These moments are not easy to go through; it feels paralyzing, like you don’t know what move to make or what decision to decide. You’re not sure if keeping up hopelessly believing is futile because the Universe has other plans or if your mindset / manifestations are just not being “done right.” And maybe it’s still possible; you just need to do it differently? Maybe you need to go deeper or change what you’ve been doing?
Honestly, this conundrum can be maddening and very discouraging and confusing. And the constant advice of “think positive” “trust it’ll come” almost gets irritating because you feel you’ve been doing that to no avail.
So what’s the answer?
This is something I’ve worked through myself many times and unfortunately the best solution is just time. Everything makes sense in time. Clarity always comes in time.
But if that answer is irritating to you as well, here are some more practical solutions:
Either give yourself a psychic reading if you’re able to or receive one from a psychic you trust. Meditating, pulling oracle cards, consulting with spirit, especially with your highest self, your guides, and maybe even the Universe itself, can really help you give clarity. Maybe they’ll let you know it’s just not happening right now because the timing isn’t right or something better is coming. Maybe they’ll tell you there’s some internal belief you haven’t addressed that’s holding you back. Either way, getting clarity straight from spirit can oftentimes be the most helpful and most encouraging.
Maybe what you think you want isn’t what you actually want and that’s why it’s not happening. Check in with your goals. Are they yours or are they projected from your parents or society? (Example: like getting into law school is your parent’s dream for you … or you want to have children because everyone else is and you feel like you’re behind). Sometimes what we “want” isn’t manifesting for us because it’s not actually what we want and our own heart is blocking us. Maybe you can’t manifest a successful business because deep down you don’t want to be in charge of a business; maybe you solely wanted to do it for the money and freedom and it actually feels unappealing to you. Maybe you can’t manifest love because you’re afraid of getting hurt again, maybe you can’t get a new job because you’re expecting it to be just as terrible as your current one and deep down you just don’t want to deal. So use this stalling point as an excuse to get really, really honest with yourself. Make a list of what it is that you truly want; what would make your heart excited, and maybe that will help you gain more clarity.
Consider as well that sometimes maybe you’re being pushed to the point of thinking it’s not happening to force you make it happen. A silly reference, but I love the video game Fall Guys and in it there’s an option to play as a team. If all members of your team get eliminated, the whole team gets eliminated. Several times, I’ve been on the trickiest of levels when all of my teammates were eliminated except me & I knew the only way we could move on or win was if I survived. These levels are ones I usually personally failed at on my own in the solo show, but knowing I had no choice but to come through for my team made me actually do it and lead us to victory. Another example, When I was looking for an apartment for college, I wanted an apartment in Manhattan as close as possible to school. However, with our budget it wasn’t looking good. After many failed attempts at apartment hunting, my friends decided we were at the point of having to look in the outer boroughs. Nothing against living in the outer boroughs, but I personally did not want to have a commute to school. I wanted to be as close as possible and within walking distant. That night, I went to bed and put absolutely all my energy towards 10000% knowing an apartment 2 blocks from school in Manhattan with our exact budget was already ours. The next morning I woke up and there was a brand new listing, with an apartment 2 blocks from our school only $100 over budget. That apartment became ours. So, sometimes being on the brink of it not happening, forces us to have no choice but to make it happen. So consider maybe this is the Universe rallying you to really utilize your power to dedicate yourself to knowing it’s happening.
Of course, you have to also really, deeply analyze where your mindset has been at. You may think you’re believing and doing everything right … but double-check. Maybe is there daily moments of doubt creeping in? Is there still a voice inside your head that occasionally says it’s not going to happen? Is there a sinking feeling in your heart? Are there limiting beliefs or beliefs you’ve adapted from others still popping up that need to be addressed? Are you believing but when you’re having conversations with people you’re actually talking about how negative / bad / not happening whatever you want is? Example: In private you’re believing and visualizing you have your true love, but when talking with your friends, you’re still complaining about how dating is horrible. OR you’re visualizing money coming in and being grateful for the money you do have, but all your conversations with friends and family are about how everything is unaffordable. Our conversations can really affect our energy as well.
Alongside that: Ask yourself: are you truly, actually embodying the version of you who already *knows* it’s inevitable? I personally feel like my manifestations have finally come through when I consistently knew without a doubt it was happening; and when I acted like the version of me who already had it. When I flip-flop, meaning I believe for a bit then go back to my old ways, my intended manifestations rarely happen. Staying in character 24/7 is crucial. You really have to dedicate yourself to acting the part and never breaking character and never letting a moment of doubt cross your mind. Of course, that’s easier said than done, but I’ve seen it done, I’ve been able to do it for a few things myself and it does make a difference.
If you’ve checked into your mindset and embodiment and you’re doing everything right and it’s still not happening - then it may just be Universal interference. Sometimes, the timing isn’t right. What if the person who becomes your true love is currently dating someone else or living in another country? You’d want them to be single and living near you for it to have its best chance at working! Sometimes, what we’re wishing for isn’t for our highest good. Maybe the job or career path we want wouldn’t be good a fit for us and we’re being pushed to find something better. Sometimes, we just need a different path. I think of how in the 2010’s I wanted and tried so hard to become a published author of fiction but got rejected time and time again, which led me to settle for jobs in graphic design (what I went to college for) and led me to a job where I met the love of my life, and led me to work in a job I hated that led me to start this spiritual business. Sometimes there’s a different path, a different order, and we may not be able to see it in the moment. It’s super frustrating, but all you can do is just keep moving forward and know that it’s unfolding for your highest good. It may not help now, but maybe it can be a bit of comfort in knowing that someday it’ll all make sense and someday you may even be grateful for the way in unfolded because you can recognize the necessary order and lessons that needed to happen.
Going through each of these can be really helpful in at least helping you figure out if it’s truly you or the Universe. Sometimes, it could even be a mix of both. Either way, understand it’s all a process and there really kind of low key is a reason for everything. All you can do is just keep moving forward and work through it. Like I said, time is usually the ultimate healer for all of this.
In the meantime, keep up the positivity and believing. It can never hurt as its always forming your future. So even though it’s frustrating and you may feel like a fool for relentlessly believing when it’s not showing up, believing really is key. And keep communicating with your spirit team / the Universe. The more you work with them, the more you’ll be able to really understand the underlying order; the more you’ll be able to understand if there’s something internal you need to work on or if it’s the Universe redirection or timing at play.
