One thing that’s often talked about a lot in the spiritual community is the importance of a morning routine. Your energy completely resets overnight, so when you wake, you have a clean slate. So because of this, it is actually really great to start your day with positive intentions in order to help sway things in your favor.
But remember, a morning routine doesn’t have to be a full, long hour thing - especially if you don’t have the time.
I remember when I used to work in corporate and I’d have to wake up at 5:30am in the dark and rush to my train, the last thing I had time for was to sit there and journal. And there was no way I wanted to way to wake up any earlier. But, I still understood the importance of setting good intentions for the day. I noticed on days I did, my day would actually be pretty good (as good as a 12 hour long day in corporate without seeing the sun could be😅). On days I didn’t, it’d be more hectic and I’d be more prone to feeling stressed and annoyed. But because of that limited morning time, that’s how I was able to develop a quick on-the-go routine.
Now that I no longer work in corporate, I’ve been able to have a slightly longer routine. I did however go through a period where I'll admit I did skip a morning routine all together to just immediately get started with my day. I realized in those times I actually started to become more anxious and it was easier for me to succumb to fears, worries, and doubts on a regular basis. Once I decided to reinstate my morning routine and consistently stuck with it the anxiety went away and my daily mood shifted for the better.
So, I highly recommend integrating some kind of positivity in the morning. But remember, we’re all different. So when creating a morning routine it should be personalized to you, your needs, and most importantly your time frame!
Here, I’m going to share my morning routine for when I had no time and when I had a bit more time. Feel free to take what resonates and leave what doesn’t and use it as a template to base around your own practice!
My Morning Routine for when you have no-time
Before you get out of bed, I used to do this in-between snoozes, I would lay there just for a moment with one hand over my heart and the other on my solar plexus chakra and I would just thank the Universe for another day of life and for a great day ahead. I would visualize my body being filled with beautiful rainbow light and a protective bubble of light surrounding me. This can take as quickly as one minute. Like I said, I used to do it in-between the snoozes so that would give me about five minutes.
As I’d get ready (brushing my teeth, putting on makeup, getting dressed) I would state positive affirmations in my head. I would think of things I’m grateful for and I would also thank the Universe for a great day ahead.
Next, two options here based on your type of commute!
When my commute was the train ride, instead of sleeping like I wanted to or listening to music, I would listen to a meditation to clear and protect my energy. Then, I’d take out my journal and write a few pages of positive affirmations or scripting (which is writing your dreams in the present tense as if you are already living them).
When my commute was driving, I’d listen to an uplifting audiobook or podcast. Usually I’d pick one about manifesting or about connecting with spirit or the universe. Feeding your brain daily with uplifting content, with proof that others made their dreams happen, can really absolutely do wonders for reprogramming your subconscious brain to believe it’s all possible for you too!
& bonus, I’d listen to that audiobook or podcast on my way home too, so then I’d add 2 hours worth of positivity to my day.
Also, if you don't have a lot of time but just want a quick journaling moment, that's why I created my mindset journal Finding Joy in the Journey. It's super simple filled with daily space for gratitude, affirmations, and a mood check / moon tracker. It takes less than 2 minutes to fill out everyday. You can purchase that here!)
My Morning Routine for when you have time
In this one, I like to listen to a meditation when I first wake up. Sometimes it varies, sometimes I’ll take ones I created myself, sometimes ones from mentors or other spiritual creators, sometimes just meditation music - I choose whichever one feels good. I usually listen to one that clears and protects my energy (bringing in the light etc) while I hold onto crystals. I have a bunch of crystals, so I usually hold onto whichever one calls me that day. Sometimes I’ll choose selenite for extra cleansing, sometimes black tourmaline for protection/to absorb negativity, sometimes rose quartz for extra love. I really let me intuition guide me here.
After the initial meditation, I then like to visualize my own goals as if they’ve already come true. I see it all and feel really, really excited. I do this for a few minutes, as doing it for at least 2-5minutes really holds and sets the vibration. While doing this, I usually switch holding onto different crystals. Sometimes I hold pyrite and green aventurine for money, citrine and malachite for manifesting, or maybe rose quartz once again for love.
After this, I fill out my daily prompt in my Finding Joy in the Journey journal.
And then I get out a journal with blank pages to write a few, quick things. I write one page of “I am” affirmations (I am lucky, I am loved, I am wealthy, I am healthy, I am capable, I am talented, I am worthy, etc). I really just choose based on whatever I want to feel and bring more of into my life. After that I write one page of a love letter to money! Money is just energy and like everything, we hold an energetic relationship to it. So, if on a daily basis you tell money how much you love it and appreciate it, of course it’s going to want to energetically be around you more (just like a romantic partner! The more we show them love and appreciation, the more they’ll appreciate us!). After that, I write one page of scripting. As explained above, scripting is writing the future script of your life; it’s about writing what you want to experience but in the present tense. The universe only ever operates in the now as time is just a human made concept. So the more you treat your desires like they’re already here, it sends out all the best vibes to help it actually manifest! So here, I just write in present tense as if I’m writing a diary entry talking about how excited I am that my dreams have actually come true. This to me is my favorite as it really hypes me up and brings great energy.
After this, *sometimes* not everyday (I'll admit I'm a little less consistent with this one, but I do love it so much when I do it because it feels extra magical)I will then just pull one card from my Positivity Pack (which you can purchase here!) I purposely designed this deck to be one that you could work with on a regular basis to pull just one card a day to receive a mood booster / validation / a positive message you could hold on throughout your day.
& that’s really kind of it! Those are what feels good to me and what keeps me on track to feeling more consistently happy, positive, and confident.
Bonus Night Time Routine!
I know some people will get more detailed here, but for me, my usual night time routine is really simple. I usually cleanse my aura with a selenite wand (I wave it around my entire body; usually tracing the outline of my body) and I ask Archangel Michael to cleanse my energy and help me release anyone’s energy I picked up throughout the day, or release anything that’s bothering me.
Recently, I’ve also done shaking … which is where you just kind of literally shake out your entire body and imagine everything that no longer serves you getting out of there. After shaking it all out, I’ll usually trace myself with the selenite wand again. Sometimes I’ll even call upon Saint Germaine or Archangel Zadkiel, protectors of the Violet Flame (a tool used to transmute energy), to use the violet flame to release everything that no longer serves me and clears me out.
I occasionally think of my dreams before I fall asleep, but sometimes it hypes me too much up and creates such a buzz of energy that then it’s difficult to go to sleep. However, I will say that several time when I really, really focused on one thing before I went to sleep and just knew without a doubt it’d happen, in the morning I’d wake up and I’d receive an email or some other kind of notification or indication that what I had been thinking about before bed manifested … sooooo I wouldn’t rule that one out! <3
Hope these helped you. Remember, your routine should always be custom to you - don’t just do it because you feel you should, find things to do that feel good, that feel exciting and things that really keep you on track to manifesting your goals.
